Bethenny Frankel, 53, has shared a warning about getting eyelash extensions - and revealed what she's now going to be doing instead.
The Skinnygirl mogul took to her TikTok this past week to make the public service announcement, issuing a cautionary tale to her viewers.
'Never get eyelash extensions,' the former Real Housewives of New York star said.
'Just listen to me right now, never get them,' she continued.
For those who may be unfamiliar, eyelash extensions are semi-permanent false eyelashes that are typically applied with 'synthetic, faux mink or silk fibers' that are individually attached to your natural lash, per Harper's Bazaar.
They can last for up to three weeks, and the length and drama are completely customizable and up to you.
Frankel explained that she had gotten the extensions on a few weeks ago, as she knew she had a few special occasions coming up where she would need extra-long lashes.
But now, she was coming to regret the choice, as she claimed in the video that she was left with 'no eyelashes.'
'I'm getting a growth serum, and I actually don't even give a sh**, I'm also not gonna put lashes on anymore, so that's discontinued for the moment unless it's a big event, but this is a breaking lash announcement, do not get eyelash extensions,' she said.
'Don't listen to bulls*** about if you go to a good person and whatever, don't do it unless you want to be bald-eyed,' she repeated.
The BStrong philanthropist then gave her viewers a close-up of what her eyelashes looked like now, which definitely didn't look as full as they normally did.
She admitted that she had put on a coat of the L'Oréal Telescopic Mascara, which definitely helped, but Frankel still claimed that she had no lashes left.
And, it looks like the Big Shot With Bethenny star might be on to something here.
In 2019, three dermatologists told Well + Good that over time, eyelash extensions can weaken the lashes and even lead to a permanent loss.
One dermatologist, Dr. Joshua Zeichner, even said that the inflammation from the application process with glue and other adhesives can cause breakage to the lashes.
In March, California-based Optometrist Dr. Jen Wademan, O.D., also sounded the alarm on getting eyelash extensions due to the fact that it can cause an 'overgrowth of lash mites.'
Symptoms can include crusty lids, eye irritation, itchiness, and redness.
Dr. Jen told DailyMail.com, 'As with any lash enhancement, I would proceed with caution, especially if you have a history of blepharitis, dry eye, or red eyes,' as extensions could exacerbate these conditions.
'Lash extensions come with some risks like infection or allergic reaction,' Dr. Jen advised.
However, in the comments section of Frankel's video, many fans seemed to be divided on the popular beauty treatment.
'Had them for three years! My lashes were so short when I got them off… now it’s been a year and a half and FINALLY my lashes couldn’t be healthier! DON'T GET THEM,' one person wrote.
Another echoed, 'I took them out three times and it ripped everyone of my eyelashes out. I do lash lift now.'
Others have found success.
'Sorry completely disagree. I’ve worn them for years. They are shorter but I still have ton of lashes. Seriously not an issue. On year four now,' someone typed.
A second user echoed, 'I have been doing my lashes for nine years straight NO breaks and my lashes are fine…I disagree with you…'
